Jan 17, 2021     Left Wing Landing Light Lens trimmed and drilled - (4 hours)       Category: Wings
Had to trim the landing light len down to fit in the wing, through the front hole. Tried with the utility knife, settled on using the bench sander since I can do lengths evenly straight/flat.

Then drilled the lens mounts...First marked and drilled the skin, then held the lower side of the lens in place by reaching through the wing tip and through the light fixture. Drilled through the holes I had made in the skin.

Repeated with the top, but used the new pull tool that I created the day prior. Worked great!

Opened the leading edge again and redrilled the new leading edge rib #4 for the spar holes and drew the flange centerlines. Next I'll put the skin back down and drill for the centerline of the replacement rib.

One more thing. The plans call for a backing strip (6-LLO-1-7) on the lense to be on the inside of the lense (to screw the sheet metal screws to). I can't figure how to hold that in place while sliding the lens into place. I am wonder if I should be using a tinnerman nut or to just glue it. I fired a question off to Roger at Zenith.
